Smoking on private lanais and resort common areas including the tennis courts, pool area, BBQs, the central courtyard, and all walkways and catwalks is prohibited at Kamaole Sands.  Benches with ash trays have been placed at convenient locations at the perimeter of the property.

  • A full-scale commercial algae farm will be built next to Maui Electric Co.’s Maalaea generating station, using carbon dioxide from burning fuel to grow algae to make biodiesel to fuel the plant. HR BioPetroleum, Alexander & Baldwin Inc., Hawaiian Electric Co. and MECO announced Tuesday the signing of a memorandum of understanding to develop the facility. After environmental and engineering review, the farm could be in operation by 2011.

  • Large portions of Ahihi-Kinau Natural Area Reserve, managed by the Department of Land and Natural Resources, closed August 1 for two years while bureaucrats figure out how to protect the fragile reserve, formally establish and mark trails, delete trails, post new educational signs, and prepare baseline measurements.  The anchialine pools will be blocked from encroachment.  Ahihi Bay will remain open but the popular Kalaeloa cove (the "Aquarium") and Mokuha (the "Fishbowl") will be closed to entry.  Leave it to the State to figure out how to make a two-month project last two years...and cut off access to a public shoreline!

  • A new wind farm project for Ulupalakua could supply up to 40 megawatts.  Shell Oil will back the project which will be based at Auwahi, out of sight of major population centers.  The Kaheawa Wind Power Project farm above Ma'alea at Kaheawa Pastures is now generating as much as 30 megawatts of power, about 9 percent of the total.  The company is now proposing to add 18 additional turbines.

This webpage is independent of Kamaole Sands Association of Apartment Owners.  Its purpose is to increase communication between individual owners, between owners and the AOAO Board , and between owners and the public.  It is recognized by the Kamaole Sands AOAO Board as an important communication channel, and is actively promoted in its publications.

Kamaole Sands is a resort condonimium complex that is especially attractive to families.  Since the complex hosts visitors as well as full-time and part-time residents, rules and regulations are in place concerning quiet hours (8pm to 10am), the pool recreation area, the barbeques, and tennis courts.  Visitors are urged to review these regulations upon checking in so the high quality of resort living is maintained.
